What was the message of Polish Literature?

Thanks to the use of secret language, Polish writers developed a way to communicate with readers over the heads of the censors. Literature thus became an important tool in preserving the national identity. But under conditions of censorship, Polish literature was unable to develop to the fullest. Moreover, another question arose: Could Polish culture be created outside of Poland?
